Art Pro Audio Prochannel Ii https://hauntedlakesgolf.ca/ Professional Tube Mic Preamp

I think the problem is more a case of ripple on the 15v rail getting directly into the audio path than coupling in through the tube filaments. Removing R245 was sufficient to eliminate the buzz. There is enough current drawn from the -15v rail for that regulator to work properly with R41 in place.

  • But during the 1920s and even the 1930s, tourism began to develop as the important Arizonan industry it is today.
  • The VU meter is assignable for input, output or compression and there is also an LED to advise if any part of the system overloads.
  • For instruments, I prefer remained initially very transparent, and then I carve a little with the eq.
  • Not sure if the voltage increase would be enough to damage anything …

There are 2 meters, the analog meter and the LED meter below the analog meter. Once the 2 12AX7 tubes have warmed this thing becomes amazing – except for the meters. One can tune up the microphone preamp and then kick in the compressor, and/or equalizer, or simply bypass one or both.

If I had to choose between the two I would definetly go with the ART Pro Channel as it actually has a very nice compression section and a very usable EQ. Much warmer for vocals and many other applications. I upgraded the tubes in my ART and DBX and it did help..

And I’m no longer want to try some micro tube top (too much light kills the lamp?). I ordered the ART PCII today and should have it within a week or so. I live https://hauntedlakesgolf.ca/ in Australia and bough two pro channels from an authorised dealer in the states, unique squared, stupid name. Anyway both were supposedly new but both had the buzzing sound you guys are describing. I thought maybe the tubes were bad so I took a look and low and behold I found a fender tube in one of them.

The compressor is not high quality, used in small quantities it is quite correct. Choose BLINK at checkout and items will arrive within 2-days of shipping. Also the sound is just a little bit smoother and more controlled. I ended up selling the Neve because it just didn’t get used that much. Personally I would try and look at the overall system chain and not just concentrate on the DBX ART argument. If you can get to try the gear out with some of the other equipment you’re going to be using then you’ll be more empowered to make the decision. My first test was with a capacitor mic and, as expected, the input impedance made very little difference. Only one or two of the tube drive LEDs came on, and this arrangement produced the most transparent, natural‑sounding result.

I can’t comment on the compressor or the EQ section, but as for the pre-amp I really like what it does and commented on it in this VS-100 thread. The reason I took the MPA over the Pro Channel was that with 24 bit recording, I really don’t have the need to compress going into the box. I’ve also owned a GAP Pre 73 before and I sold it.

I could not find the voltage levels published anywhere, the voltage level info came from a fellow named Thom Davis at A.R.T., responding to my e-mailed question. Get both in my opinion but if people are saying your vocals are fine then get the compressor, purely because you have a tracking compresor, which will inprove you vocal sound any way and a mastering compresor. I just can’t get the sound I’m looking for with a dry signal processed by the box. The optimum operating range and here we go, this is where I get shot down, not by you beagle old friend, is around, is around 3-4 db of gain reduction, and 5db gain, with the attack and realease almost all the way open. I regularly have te attack around 60ms, I think that is as far as it goes but if it goes further I go further and the realease 1 sec.

Onboard, two professional VU meters display input or output levels, while its multicolored LED arrays, with average or peak hold, show you tube gain. I had quite a compressor, including a Manley Variable Mu is the REFERENCE for mastering. To date, no software has such compressor performance. It provides voice recording with more security without risk of saturating btement Nazer and the outlet.
